Bob and Tom’s Most Excellent Adventure

Prolegomenon: Whether you fly into Bangkok or not, it doesn’t matter, we can either start in Phuket or finish there, either way it is going to be epic. We can catch a flight from N. Thailand down to Phuket for pretty cheap if you do fly into Bangkok.
A: Phuket, Thailand
Fly in to Phuket, we have a condo to stay at ten minutes from a good surf spot that a buddy of mine has from the Guam Water Polo team. I’ll have to lock down dates with him on it though.
B: Koh phi phi, Thailand
Beautiful touristy spot, which means people that are down to party and have a good time. Good way to start off the trip, but don’t worry, we’ll get away from the tourists soon enough. A bit expensive too, but it’s still Thailand pricey which is cheap.
C: Krabi, Thailand
Amazing rock climbing, cliff jumping and secluded beaches only accessible by boat. In Krabi there is a hippie town called Tonsai, which not very many people know about, which is good and is supposed to be one of the best spots in Thailand for a chill time.
D: Ko Phangan Thailand
We are planning the first part of our trip around this place. Full moon is on the 6th of April so prepare yourself for the ultimate full moon festival and craziest partying you might ever experience. Shenanigans get weird here and this island is famous for it, but you’re going to love it.
E: Koh Talu Thailand
Another beautiful spot to chill and check out the sights. Mainly a good place to relax and break up the bus ride from Southern Thailand to Bangkok. We’ll decide if we really want to go here after talking to the friends we meet along the way. (Huge part of traveling)
F: Bangkok, Thailand
You’ve seen Hangover 2. It does get that wild, you will see TONS of those lady boys I'm sure a few have warned you about. This will definitely be an interesting city to check out for a couple days. I doubt we’ll want to stay much longer than 3 days, but we’ll see. There are also a few cool temples to check out including Wat Pho, the “Reclining Buddha”, Wat Prakeaw “The Grand Palace”, and Wat Arun “The Temple of Dawn”. Plus there is tons of cheap stuff to buy on the black markets here, but we can do that at the end when we finish here.
G: Angkor Wat, Bat Dambang, Cambodia
Guessing that we will hit our 15 day tourist visa limit on Thailand by this time, we are going to need to head to Cambodia. You’ve seen “Tomb Raider” with Anjelina Jolie; this is the most famous spot in all of Cambodia that you see in all the movies, magazines and top spots to visit in the world. It is absolutely beautiful and offers some amazing history to learn. We will probably only spend two or three days here depending on how much we like it.
H: Don Khong, Laos (4,000 Islands)
This is going to be a pretty cool experience. We’ll get an opportunity to get even more remote and hop on a slow boat and head up the Mekong River, checking out thousands and thousands of islands. We can go for as long or as short as we want depending on how cool it is.
I: Vientiane, Laos
This is Laos’ capital city, which we may or may not want to stop at. More of a history & educational stop if we want to do it.
J: Vang Vieng, Laos
Get even more amped than you already are, because this city is home to the world’s best river float. You thought the Salt River float was cool; imagine that but with tons of bars on the shoreline throwing ropes to you, pulling you in to grab drinks and then send you back out down to the next bar. Plus there is a giant waterslide that launches you up in the air and into the river below. I wouldn’t doubt it if we spent a week here. Ryan says this is one of the best party and relaxation spots to hit.
K: Louangphabang, Laos
This city seems to be a bit of an adventure city from what I’ve heard. You can summit Mount Phousi, hike through caves and check out some amazing waterfalls. Overall just an exciting city to visit.
L: Chiang Rai Thailand
After getting another 15 day tourist visa, we will head back into Northern Thailand to hit up Chiang Rai for a day or so, where we will experience “The White Temple”
L: Pai Thailand
Another chill hippie town, this spot has one of the best roads to ride scooters on and check out cool sights. Plus, I have a buddy that lives here that I trekked Everest with that will let us kick it at his spot that is only ten minutes away from a real cool elephant safari.
M: Chiang Mai Thailand
Probably one of the more well know spots in Thailand to check out temples, palaces and historical stuff like that, Chiang Mai is an ancient city that will be cool to explore.
N: Mae Hong Son Thailand
We may or may not stop here depending on what we feel like. Basically another really cool spot to rent scooters and drive around.
O: Bangkok, Thailand
Back to Bangkok. This is optional. You have to realize that flights within Thailand are very very cheap through Airasia.com; like 40 bucks across country. Once we are done up north, we can head back down south to the islands or back to our favorite spot wherever that might be, or just head home.
Cessation: Feel free to pick up a lonely planet or guide on Thailand, but trust me, all we are going to need is a map and the rest will take care of itself. 90% of all the information above was solely from talking to people I’ve met along the way.
